Library Week

Every Spring, TCIS Learning Commons hosts our "Library Week."  This week consists of themed days and activities designed to grow students' love of literacy and knowledge of the library.  In the 2022-2023 school year, the K-12 Library Week was from March 27-31, 2023. This page shows the daily themes and pictures of events the students participated in!

Monday- Book in a Jar Day

Ten books have been shredded and placed into jars!
Students look at the jars to find clues to guess each book.  Correct guesses are entered into a drawing to win a prize.

Tuesday- Book Character Dress Up Day

Students and teachers chose a favorite book character to dress up as, and came to school ready to impress!
Picture

Wednesday- Book Swap

Students participated in a Book Swap.  Kids were able bring in up to five books to trade.
Many students brought extra so that every student in the ES was able to leave with one "new" book by the end of the day!

Thursday- Whose Nose is in the Book?

Can you guess which teacher's nose is hidden in a book they enjoy reading?
ES Students used a hallway display and and were given new clues each day throughout the week to solve these mysteries.
The people with the highest number correct in each classroom won a prize,
and consolation bookmark prizes were given to others!

Friday- Spring Literacy Day

All pictures and explanations for this event are on its own page in the "Literacy Initiatives" drop down menu.
While Spring Literacy Day is usual its own entity.  This year, we made it part of our Library Week!

Here is a link to that page.

PRIZES

And, of course, there were prizes!  We believe in rewarding reading with more reading.  Therefore, all our prizes revolve around literacy.  Throughout the week, students win books, book lights for reading at night or when traveling, book marks, and book stickers!
